Fun Things to Do with Kids in Valencia — Our Family Guide

Valencia is, without question, one of the best cities in Europe to raise a family or visit with children. The weather is glorious, the parks are enormous, the attractions are world-class, and the pace of life is perfectly suited to little ones who need space to run, explore and discover. Having spent years here and explored every corner of this city with families, here is our definitive guide to the very best things to do with kids in Valencia.

🦁 Bioparc Valencia

One of our absolute favourites and a must for any family visiting or living in Valencia. Bioparc is not your average zoo — it's been brilliantly designed to replicate natural habitats, with no visible barriers between you and the animals. The result is a genuinely immersive experience that feels more like stepping into the wild than visiting a traditional zoo.

The exhibits span the African savannah, equatorial forests and wetlands, home to over 200 species. Kids can enjoy animal feedings, discovery tours and a dedicated children's playground. Educational, exciting and genuinely magical — Bioparc is a full day out and worth every penny.

🐠 Oceanográfic Valencia

The largest aquarium complex in Europe — and it absolutely lives up to the billing. Designed by the legendary Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava, Oceanográfic is as stunning to look at as it is to explore inside. With over 45,000 animals from 500 species, there is something to captivate kids of every age.

Highlights include Valencia’s very own beluga whale, penguins in Antarctica, flamingos in the Wetlands, the mesmerising Jellyfish Tanks, and — the absolute showstopper — the underwater tunnel at the Oceans exhibit, where you walk beneath sharks, rays and more. Allow a full day and don't miss the dolphin show. The kids will talk about it for weeks.

🎢 Gulliver Park

Tucked inside the beautiful Turia Gardens, Gulliver Park is one of those only-in-Valencia experiences that you simply won't find anywhere else. A giant 70-metre sculpture of Gulliver — the fictional giant from the classic novel — lies across the park, and kids can climb all over him via slides, stairs, ropes and bridges. It is completely free, endlessly fun, and an absolute hit with children of all ages. There is also a puppet theatre and sports facilities nearby, making it a brilliant afternoon out without spending a penny.

🌳 Parque Central — Encantada Favourite

One of my personal favourite parks in Valencia, right on the border of Ruzafa. Parque Central is a stunning modern regenerated city park with beautifully landscaped gardens, a playground, a fountain area and even a dedicated dog zone. In the summer the kids can run wild through the fountain sprinkler area — absolute chaos and absolute joy in equal measure. There's also loads of space for scooting and cycling, making it the perfect place for a lazy weekend morning with the family. We love it here.

🦆 Parque de Cabecera

Nestled along the Turia River, Parque de Cabecera is a wonderfully sprawling park with something for everyone. The lake is a particular highlight for younger children — it's home to the most adorable ducks and turtles, and the kids will be absolutely transfixed watching them. A word of warning though — feeding them is not allowed, so come prepared with that explanation! There are also boat rides on the lake, a mini-zoo, playgrounds and a picturesque amphitheatre. A brilliant, easy family day out.

🌿 Viveros Park

If you want to see Valencia at its most beautiful and most relaxed, head to Viveros. This stunning, immaculately kept park is home to gorgeous landscaped gardens, a bird aviary that the little ones will adore, a duck pond, and a dedicated skate and bike track for older kids. There is even a lovely kiosko right in the centre of the park where you can sit back with a well-deserved cold cerveza while the kids run themselves beautifully tired. Honestly, this is weekend parenting at its finest. Don't miss it.

💦 Piscina Parque de Benicalap

When the Valencia summer heat kicks in — and it really does kick in — this public swimming pool near Parque de Cabecera is an absolute lifesaver. Cool, fun, affordable and always a hit with kids. Perfect for those long hot summer afternoons when the parks simply aren't enough and everyone needs to cool down fast.

Valencia truly is a city that loves children, and it shows in every park, every playground and every attraction. Whether you're visiting for a holiday or settling in as a family, this city will give your kids memories they'll carry for life. And honestly? You'll have just as much fun as they will. 🌞
